With perseverance and perseverance, Maryam Al-Ajami weaves the threads of her novel, which begins from a point of high tension and drags the reader with her to a present burdened with the past and characters whose lives are closed to one secret after another. Writing here seems to be an act of liberation: freedom from the ghosts of a past full of mysteries and from the constraints of a present besieged by the past. The small stories of the heroes of "Mid-Sun" are not separate from the larger narrative of the war, but rather they combine with it, so that the writer reveals much that is hidden about him and questions the concept of heroism and the meaning of wounds healing with the pus in them.
