This novel is one of the mothers of Arabic novels, as it is pioneering in its subject matter and presentation. The end of the nineteenth century witnessed continuous episodes of successive crises and tribulations, which led to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in 1924. In a narrative form, the author was able to address the problems that passed from the era of Sultan "Othman III" until the era of Sultan "Abdul Hamid II," where the corruption of the ruling family and its moral and social transgressions.

After a while, people returned to mentioning the novel, and the public's desire to read it doubled."
