Governance in Islam is based on one of two foundations: pledge of allegiance or shura. However, there are no texts ordering the adoption of a specific system of government, so Islam does not conflict with the monarchy or republican system, and according to the principle of Shura, Islam grants Muslims the right to choose the system of government that suits them and their time, unless this includes any legal impediment.
