About the eBook

Muslims in all countries concerned themselves with the month of Ramadan, surrounded it with various types of honor, commemorated it with various forms of worship, and lavished goodness on the poor and needy. Egypt took great care in honoring this month, and the Fatimid state paid attention to this month and celebrated it with an unprecedented celebration. It prohibited the sale of intoxicants starting from the month of Rajab, and punished those who sold or bought them secretly or openly, and devoted it to special parties. Some of them are in preparation for its arrival, and some are to announce the sighting of its crescent moon. They are celebrations rich in manifestations of greatness, including all kinds of righteousness and alms that entertain the poor and bring joy to them.
When the month of Ramadan approaches, Egyptian judges are entrusted with circumambulating mosques and sights in Cairo and Egypt three days before its arrival. They begin by visiting the mosques of Cairo, Al-Mashhad, the mosques of Egypt (Fustat), and then the Al-Husseini mosque to inspect the repairs, furnishings, and hanging of lamps that have been done there.
It is reported on the authority of Ahmed Ibn Tulun that he visited his mosque at the time of its construction, and he saw the craftsmen working until sunset, and it was in the month of Ramadan, so he said: "When will these weak people buy breakfast for their families, send them away in the afternoon." It became a year in Egypt. When the month of Ramadan was over, he was told: The month of Ramadan has passed and they will return to their custom. He said: "I have heard their supplication and I have been blessed by it, but this is not something that saves work."
