The art of writing a play
About the eBook
Composing for theater has been a science since the time of Aristotle and since the time of Horace. Rather, it was an unwritten science before Aristotle and before Horace. Rather, it was a sixth sense for Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides, among the masters of Greek poets and playwrights, just as it was a sixth sense for Seneca, Plautus, and Terence, among the masters of playwrights. The Romans, according to Marlowe, Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Shaw, and other great poets and writers of the English theater, and according to Cornby. And Racine, Cocteau and other geniuses of French poets and writers, and according to Ibsen, Chekhov and Gogol among the immortal writers of Europe, and according to Sidney Howard, Eugene O'Neill, George Kaufman and other American theater writers.
Theatrical composition among these and those has its basic rules that are known among them, they hardly deviate from them, and they are almost never lost to them, and therefore the writing of plays is a subject taught in some American universities, and European universities as well.
