Psychology and ethics
About the eBook
The subject of these chapters is a series of lectures, delivered by the author at Mansfield College, Oxford University. He avoided delving into discussing the theories around which there is a complex debate in modern psychology, and confined himself to what the opinions of psychiatrists and psychologists have settled on, such as conflict, repression, and so on. He was not exposed to the Freudian school of psychoanalysis, nor to the Jungian school of analytical psychology - nor was he presented with favor or opposition to them, although understanding the differences between the two schools is not difficult for those who are familiar with them.
The book presents a point of view, and does not attempt to be a coordinated message in ethical theory, which is the domain of the philosopher and the cleric. Rather, it is concerned with highlighting the facts and principles that modern psychology has revealed, especially those related to their application to neurological diseases. Some insight into these facts and principles is of vital importance. For parents, teachers, clergy, doctors, and others who are called upon to express direction or provide advice on life's problems and people's behavior in them.
