Social justice is considered a basic demand for people, and despite the implicit awareness of its concept among many; Its concept is based on achieving fairness for all members of society by obtaining fair opportunities socially, economically, and politically. The United Nations defined social justice as "the fair and compassionate distribution of the fruits of economic growth."
Social justice is considered a philosophical political theory that embraces the necessity of looking at the dimensions of achieving justice that go beyond civil and penal laws or traditional moral norms that are concerned with the justice of individual behavior, while social justice aims to focus on achieving fair relations between different categories and groups within society, and the responsibility for achieving social justice falls on Governments, NGOs and individuals in every society.
The emergence of the concept of social justice dates back to the early nineteenth century, when its focus was economic justice, workers' rights, and the distribution of wealth to eliminate class disparity. The concept of social justice later expanded to include various aspects of inequality, including racial and ethnic discrimination and discrimination based on gender or social group.
