لويجي بيرانديللو هو كاتب إيطالي بارز وُلِد في جزيرة صقلية لعائلة بُرجوازية. تنوّعت إسهاماته الأدبية بين الشعر والقصة والرواية والمسرح، وقد نال جائزة نوبل في الآداب عام 1934. عاش بيرانديللو حياةً مريحة مكنته من التعليم في عدة مدن، ودرس الأدب في جامعة بون الألمانية. تميزت تجربته الأدبية بالثراء والتنوع، حيث دارت أعماله حول التناقض الجدلي بين الحياة وثبات الصورة، مركزًا على مشكلة الحقيقة كأحد المحاور الأساسية في فنّه. من أبرز أعماله: "لكلٍّ حقيقتُه"، و"قبعة المجانين"، و"ست شخصيات تبحث عن مؤلف". تُوفي بيرانديللو عام 1936 عن عمر يناهز 69 عامًا.
