About the eBook
Do you wonder about the origin of many of the characters that surround you today? Do you want to understand the drivers of their behavior and instincts? The book "Characters" by Theophrast, Aristotle's staunch student, provides us with a window into the world of human dispositions for more than two thousand years, revealing to us that human nature does not change much over time. In thirty charming paintings, Theophrast paints for us, with precision and sarcasm, "various types of human dispositions" that were prevalent in his time, from the "domineering" to the "stingy" to the "cowardly" to the "arrogant." The book does not provide us with just a "superficial description" of character, but rather delves into the "depths of the human psyche," analyzing its motives and behaviors with a deep philosophical and moral outlook. The book is a source of inspiration for writers, as they can derive from it "ideas and characters for their comedic and satirical works."
