Rhadopis of Nubia- The second novel in Mahfouz's historical trilogy and its events start with the ancient Egyptian legend from which the story of Cinderella was inspired. In this novel, the young king, Mernar II, falls in love with the beautiful Ghanaian, Radubis, after finding her shoe that was snatched by an eagle while she was bathing. He becomes close to her and a romantic relationship develops between them.
