From time immemorial, language was seen as a fascinating enigma by

and sometimes even the layman. To answer the big question "what is
language?" this book opens the door to the most famous specialists over
a large and long range in time and space. It starts from ancient Panini to
modern structuralists and cognitivists such as Saussure Bloomfield and
Chomsky.

THE AUTHOR
El Mouatamid Ben Rochd obtained his BA in American civilization from
Fez University in 1978, obtained his Masters in French linguistics from
York University in 1982, and his PhD in theoretical linguistics and the
structure of Arabic from the National University of Ireland in 1990. He
has numerous books and articles, published both at home and aboard.
